BE LIKE MOTHER MARY

And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart.

On this New Year’s Day, I am reminded that it is not only the first day of the new year but also the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God.

During this Christmas season, I am remembering how even the three kings from the East came to visit Jesus and give Him praise—- the true meaning and message is to give thanks to the simple everyday graces.

My relationship with Mother Mary started with baby steps of learning the Hail Marys when I was still in catechism classes, and now I am striving to do a Rosary daily. The Rosary gave me a sense of calm and peace amid life’s chaotic moments.

In today’s Gospel reading, I am reminded to practice humility and pray like Mary. With every joy and difficulty I have encountered, I kept all these things in my heart, reflecting on the graces through journaling, prayer, or having a one-on-one session with my spiritual director.

Mother Mary is gentle and kind, and Jesus has done us a great favor by giving us His beloved Mother.

On this first day of the new year, be more like Mary and ask her for the graces to grow closer to Jesus.  Say a Hail Mary or a decade of the Rosary to start the New Year!
